This tool formats citations. It doesn't grade them, and it can't know your class's exact expectations. Here's what that means in practice.

A formatting aid, not an authority

The generator follows the published conventions of the APA and MLA styles for the source types it supports. Style manuals run to hundreds of pages, and some sources have edge cases the form fields can't capture. When your source is unusual, the manual (or your instructor) wins.

Verify against your institution's requirements

Departments and instructors often layer their own preferences on top of a style: a specific handbook edition, extra fields, different date formats. Before submitting graded work, compare the generated citation against the requirements you were actually given. Consider each citation a strong first draft that deserves a proofread.

Your input, your output

The generator formats exactly what you type. A misspelled author or a wrong year will be formatted beautifully and still be wrong, so double-check the details against the source itself.

No guarantee of acceptance

No promise is made that any generated citation will be accepted by a specific teacher, journal or institution. Responsibility for submitted work stays with the person submitting it.
